First and foremost our goal is to help make pet ownership as easy as it can be for you! At Skilos we simply want to help you find solutions to the issues that come up with everyday pet ownership so you can be the pet owner you want to be! We know there is an overload of information out there so let us sift through it all so you can focus on having fun with your pet!!   

The Skilos family, quite literally a family, consists of: owners Judy Kurscheidt, Director of Operations Jerad Wagner and Director of Marketing Zachary Dewitt. When you visit our store located on Milwaukee’s Eastside, you will very likely meet Jerad and Zach as they will be in-store on a daily basis while Judy and Jerry serve in an advisory role. 

Judy has been in the pet industry for almost 30 years and has served companies in multiple capacities. She began her foray into the pet industry as an executive administrative assistant but quickly proved more than capable of handling larger responsibilities. Since that first role she has held titles such as national sales manager and international sales manager. It has been her dream while raising her two sons, Jerad & Zach, that she would someday be able to open her own family pet store. Jerad and Zach are incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to help make their mother’s dream come true!

Jerad graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse after studying Exercise Science and Business Administration. As a young professional with an entrepreneurial spirit, Jerad began building a client base as a personal trainer/strength & conditioning coach. While he still holds a passion for health and fitness it is a “dream come true to embark on this journey with family.” Growing up around animals he is excited to contribute and enhance that experience for families alike!

Zach got his first dog, a German Shepherd, Franklin, in December of 2019. He quickly realized how much work and how little he actually knew about being the sole caretaker of a pet. He’s incredibly excited to embark on this venture with his family to help individuals and families get the absolute most out of pet ownership! “My (Zach’s) goal is to make sure we are always carrying products that are useful, quality and is something I, as a dog owner, can stand behind.”

Our four legged family members must be mentioned! Judy & her husband, Jerry, had two dogs; a brother and sister! Cooper & Cocoa are Chocolate Lab & Springer mixes. Unfortunately Judy and Jerry had to make the hard decision to say goodbye to Cooper in early February of 2022 & Cocoa in July of 2022. We are so grateful for our time with our family dogs and that they were able to witness the birth of the store! As mentioned earlier, Zach has his pup Franklin; an enormous goofball and we wouldn’t have it any other way! Zach also adopted a kitten in November of 2021, Harriet who has been quite the energetic ball of fun and an amazing learning experience for Zach.

Judy, after adamantly saying she's taking a break from pet ownership, following the passing of Cocoa in July of 2022 is already up to two cats. One still a kitten (Trixie) & the other an energetic 1 year old(Miss Wiggles)!!
